Youth leaders of Amayam clan in Ikot Ekpene local government area, Akwa Ibom state have scored Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel high in provision of basic infrastructure, industrialisation, healthcare delivery, security and political inclusion.
The Young leaders converged on Instil Hotel, Ikot Obong Otoro, Ikot Ekpene local government area, to review Nigeria’s growth under 21 years of democratic rule and assess the impact of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s five years in office especially on Amayam people and Akwa Ibom state at large.

They particularly noted that after 20 years of democracy, it was only during the present adminstration of Governor Udom Emmanuel that a contract was awarded for the construction of roads in the hinterland of Amayam clan. They expressed gratitude to the governor for having their interest at heart and pledged their loyalty to his administration.
Leading in the review meeting, Prince Samuel Ukut, who is the facilitator of Amayam Conscience Group and the Principal of Ikot Ekpene Partnership Project said, “Amayam have never gotten it this good. I thank His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel, for always standing for inclusiveness and fairness in his governance. He has ensured that development is spread far and wide especially to those areas that were often overlooked by precious administrations.
“Both physical projects as well as political appointments reflect the governor’s policy thrust on fairness, equity and inclusiveness. This has given everyone a sense of belonging and helped to sustain political cohesion and unity across the state”.
Ukut however appealed for more road contracts to be extended to cover more villages within Amayam clan in order to open up new areas for development and decongest urban area of Ikot Ekpene local government area.
Also speaking, Hon Nsisong Ebienang, who is the Chairman of Supreme Council of Amayam Youths, thanked the elders of the clan in providing the pioneering leadership that the clan needed. He reiterated, the call for all the youths to work together for the common good of the clan.
In his contribution, Mr. Denis Nyoroh, thanked the youths of the clan for remaining law abiding even in the face of sheer injustice of jettisoning a long standing rotational arrangement for the chairmanship position in the local government area, and sought the intervention of the governor in correcting the impending injustice for the sake of fairness and equity.

He also requested interest of the youths to be generated towards entrepreneurship especially in the field of agriculture as a panacea to the present economic downturn.
Present at the meeting were youth leaders drawn from the 25 villages of Amayam clan and heads of many sociopolitical organisations within the clan.
