The Delta State Police command has rescued two persons who were abducted by kidnappers in the State.

Spokesperson of the Command, DSP Bright Edafe, said the kidnappers were arrested and a stolen vehicle, one locally made single barrel gun, 26 phones and two point of sales machines were recovered from them.

Other items found on the suspects included, 38 rounds of live cartridge, two expended cartridges, two empty female hand bags.

DSP Edafe said, “disturbing call came across to the DPO of Ovwian Aladja, CSP Aliyu Shaba on Monday 24th April, at about 2p.m reporting the kidnap of Obinna Nwakwo ‘m’ 29yrs old and Ovigwe Dagagba ‘m’ 31yrs old both hails from Usiefurun community, Ughelli south LGA.

“They were captured and kidnapped by a four member gang kidnappers operating with a tricycle. Upon their abduction, they were forced inside a Toyota Corolla owned by one of the kidnapped victims. They were chivvied away towards Udu local government area from Usiefurun roundabout.

“Immediately after the information was received, the DPO of Udu, CSP Aliyu Shaba, in quick response mobilized and guided the search team. The kidnappers were engaged in a shoot out by the Police. They were subdued, so they abandoned their hostage and ran into the bush with several bullet injuries.”
