Delta State Police Command says it has arrested four members of a syndicate that specialises in theft and sales of babies.

A three years old child was rescued from the syndicates who were arrested in Delta and Anambra States.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, said the police arrested one Mohammed Isah, who stole the child.

Isah, 35 years old male, has confessed to the crime and is aiding the police with further investigations which led to the arrest of more members of the gang.

Other suspects arrested according to the police include a-32 years old physically person, Abubakar Mohammed, Ibrahim Sani and Kabiru Ibrahim.

A release by the police indicated that one locally made gun and tricycle were recovered from the suspects.

According to the release, “on June 13, 2023, the Delta State Police Command rescued a three-year-old child who was stolen by one Mohammed Isah ‘m’ aged 35yrs who operates with the child stealing syndicates.

“The police also recovered a locally made cut-to-size gun and a tricycle in another development . The principal suspect, Mohammed Isah, confessed to the crime and revealed that the syndicates was planning to sell the child for the sum of Eight Hundred Thousand Naira (N800,000)

“The mother of the child, Aisha Yusuf, reported the incident to the police, who then led an investigation to rescue the child.

“The Commissioner of Police, Delta State, CP Wale Abass acting on the complaint, ordered the DPO, ‘C’ Division Asaba, CSP Apu Torukeregha, to arrest the suspects and rescue the stolen child. The suspects have confessed to the crime”
