A new executive that will pilot the affairs of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Ibesikpo Asutan division, Akwa Ibom state branch, has been elected and sworn -in.

Election of the new exco of the division conducted on Saturday 25th July, at Primary Health Centre, Nung Udoe, was supervised by the Akwa Ibom state chairman and branch secretary of the Red Cross.

The new exco of the Red Cross, Ibesikpo Asutan division has, Mr. Asuquo Etuk, chairman; Mrs Goodness Emmanuel Obot, Vice Chairman; Barr Ukana Udofia, Legal Adviser; Engr Ekemini Ukim, Disaster Adviser; Mr Fabian Emmanuel, Finance and Planning Adviser; Deaconess Patricia Umondia, Treasurer.

Others are, Mr Nsikan Nyong Andem, Training Adviser; Mr Abasifreke Effiong, Information Adviser; Dr Bassey Ndem, Youth Adviser; and Comrade Richard Ekpo – Divisional Detachment Adviser.

The election was presided over by Mr Ubong Jonah, the Akwa Ibom state disaster management coordinator and a senior member of the Red Cross Ibesikpo Asutan division.

The newly elected chairman of the Red Cross, Ibesikpo Asutan division, Mr Asuquo Etuk, in his acceptance speech said with the calibre of persons in the exco, the division will be a shinning light for the Red Cross in Akwa Ibom state.

Etuk said his administration will focus on building functional disaster teams that can respond to major incidents in five minutes, a vibrant youth wing of Red Cross in the division and regular training on first aid.

He thanked members of Red Cross in the division for the confidence reposed in him.

Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross, Akwa Ibom state branch, Elder Sam Ikon, who swore-in the new exco of the division, expressed confidence that the exco will revive activities of the society in all detachments and communities in the division.

Ikon, represented by the state officer in- charge of divisional affairs, Mr Eyibio Asuquo, noted that the Ibesikpo Asutan divisional exco was well constituted.

“I can see that this division is well constituted. In the whole state, this is the richest exco. I hope this division will be the light for others to follow. I urge this division to reach out to other divisions in the branch.”

The branch chairman urged the exco to always bear in mind that Red Cross is a humanitarian organisation whose paramount interest is to serve society, hence, she should strive to mobilise like – minds for community services.

The election and swearing- in of the new divisional exco was witnessed by the Akwa Ibom state branch Secretary of the Red Cross, Mr. Ekong Samuel and other officers of the branch.
