Palliative given by Prince Mendy Archibong to village heads in Obot Akara local government area.

Village heads in Obot Akara, a local government area in Akwa Ibom state have received bags of rice as palliatives courtesy of Prince Mendy Archibong.

Archibong who is a Port Harcourt based industrialist and Managing Director of Good Time Paint and Allied Industries Limited, said the COVID-19 lockdown has brought pressure on community, hence the need for people who are well -to- do to support special groups of people whose sources of income are affected by the lockdown.

He said the donation to the village heads was to support the palliatives given by the Akwa Ibom state government.

Archibong has been giving support to special groups in the state since the outbreak the pandemic.

The industrialist had earlier donated food items including bags of rice, beans and noodles to widows in the five villages in Obot Akara ward one as well as personal protective equipment to teachers and secondary school students in Obot Akara and Ikot Ekpene local government areas.

Recall that Archibong also donated 1000 nose masks to the Akwa Ibom state police command after he observed that policeman who were enforcing the COVID-19 lockdown were not using properly kitted with protective equipment.

Archibong, an indigene of Ikpe Mbak Eyop in Obot Akara local government donated bags of rice to the 74 village heads in Obot Akara local government area, Akwa Ibom state as palliative to cushion the impact of the COVID-19 lockdown.

He said the donation was to encourage the people to stay at home in accordance with the Akwa Ibom state government’s directive on the management of the spread of the novel Coronavirus.

The palliative to the village heads was received by the Paramount Ruler of Obot Akara, His Royal Majesty, Okuku Uwah Umoh-Adiaka and later shared to the 74 village heads in Obot Akara local government area.

Archibong thanked Akwa Ibom state governor Mr Udom Emmanuel and the state incident management committee for working assiduously to contain the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

He said Governor Emmanuel and the COVID-19 committee have brought their wealth of expertise and experience in crisis management to bear in the state’s response to the pandemic.

Village heads in Obot Akara have thanked Prince Mendy Archibong for the donations made to different groups of people since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Responding on behalf of the village heads, the chairman forum of village heads in Obot Akara and village head of Ikot Usung Ita, Obong Jimmy Martins Etokakpan, prayed God to replenish the stock of his income.

“We have received the donation from Archibong. We are very grateful. We have also heard of the different groups he has reached out to since this pandemic broke out. Our prayer is that God will bless him and his generation and replenish his source of income”, Etokakpan said.
