Eyitayo Jegede has won the governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo state, beating the current deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi, who decamped to PDP to contest for the ticket.
Jegede got 888 votes to beat seven other contestants including the State Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi.

Recall that Jegede was the candidate of the PDP in the 2016 Governorship election.
Voting in the primary election started around 2pm on Tuesday and ended around 8pm.
With this development, Jegede will now face Governor Rotimi Akeredolu at the poll.
This will be a repeat of the 2016 battle.
Political pundits have described the forthcoming governorship election as the battle of two SANs.

Agboola Ajayi- 657 Votes
Banji Okunomo- 90 Votes
Bode Ayorinde – 95 Votes
Bolawaji Kunlere- 33 Votes
Ebiseni Olusola- 29 Votes
