Officers of the Nigerian Army attached to the 4 Special Forces Command in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, have arrested three suspected rail track vandals at Kwarra community in Keana LGA of the state.

Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations of the command, Major. Joseph Afolasade, made the disclosure at a press briefing on Monday in Doma LGA.

According to Major Afolasade “On Aug. 5, 2023 at about 11:00pm, troops of the Command during a routine patrol, intercepted three suspected rail track vandals at Kwarra community of Keana LGA.

“The suspects were arrested with large quantity of rail track loaded in one 18-tyres truck with registration number DED 364 YC.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that on Aug. 23, the driver was contacted to convey the vandalized railway tracks to Illorin in Kwara State for the sum of N1.6 million.

“The Commander of the 4 Special Forces, Major-Gen. Hillary Nzan, had approved that the suspects be handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for further investigation and prosecution.”

He, therefore, handed over the suspects to the representative of Nasarawa State Commandant of the NSCDC.

Responding, the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC in the state, Jerry Victor, expressed gratitude to the Army for its sustained efforts in tackling insecurity in the state while assuring that the suspects would be prosecuted if found guilty of the crime, to serve as a deterrent to others.
