The Rivers State Government on Monday, 31st August, signed a contract for the provision of safe drinking water in the state capital.

The project, according to a statement from the government house, covers 496kms of pipeline network and would involve the building of four new reservoirs and the rehabilitation of the four existing one.

The new facility is expected to add 264,000 cubic meters of water per day to the moribund colonial era 66,000 cubic meters per day facility.

The contract was signed between Port Harcourt Water corporation and CGC Nigeria Limited, Top Engineering Corporation and Mothercat Limited.
