Four dismissed police officers who were members of Eagle Crack Team in Rivers state arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt have been remanded in prison.
The four dismissed police officers were accused of torturing Late Chima Ikwunado to death and attempted murder of four others.
They were subjected to Orderly Room trial and were dismissed before being arraigned before a Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

The four suspects were arraigned for a seven count charge bordering on conspiracy, murder, and attempted murder. The four sacked officers are Ayogu Fidelis, Eke Chibuzor, Rose Georgewill and Egbunefu Felix.

When the seven count charge were read out in court, the four accused who were officers attached to Eagle Crack Squad of the Rivers State Police Command pleaded not guilty to the crime.
Chief Magistrate, Promise Iruanya Could not allow for bail application and ordered that the accused be remanded in Nigeria Correctional Center.
Chief Magistrate Iruanya explained that while the court lack jurisdiction to entertain count one to three of the charges, count four to seven can be entertained but ordered that the case file be remitted to Department of Public Prosecution for advice and thereafter adjourned till 19th of September for trial.

Speaking to newsmen outside the court, counsel to the family of Late Chima Ikwunado and others, Priceless Lawrence said they were surprise to see only four suspects in court instead of seven suspects expected to appear in court.
One of the survived victims Ifeanyi Onyekwere and the father of late Chima Ikwunado, Kelvin Ikwunado who spoke to our correspondent outside the court requested that the police should not only stop at arraigning the suspects but should also ensure justice in the matter.
