Jos – The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi has laid out some of the plans he has to ensure good governance if elected into office in 2023.
Obi who was in the company of his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, party stalwarts and other stakeholders from the Middle Belt region was in Jos where he was unveiled/endorsed by the OBI/DATTI Southern & Middle Belt Alliance, a group working to ensure victory for the Labour Party in the elections year.
In his words “If you elect me as your President, I will provide security at all levels so that our people can go to the farm and by so doing, the issue of food insecurity and hunger will be a thing of the past. We will make our educational system functional and improve the electricity supply. We will block all leakages and end corruption at all levels; our government will be responsible. We will not fail Nigerians.”
He urged Nigerians to pray for peaceful and credible elections in 2023, adding that only credible polls would produce credible leaders.
Speaking earlier, Dr Pogu Bitrus, the President of the Middle Belt Forum, said that the Forum is in support of Obi’s candidature, insisting that Obi’s Presidency would address the problems the Middle Belt has been faced with, insisting, “We didn’t decide to support Peter Obi on sheer sentiments but the principle of justice and fairness. After a careful study, we realise that Obi is competent to take this nation out of its current challenges. So, we organised this rally to show that we are fully in support of his candidature.”
Also speaking, Prophet Isa El-Buba, the Convener of the Initiative for Better and Brighter Nigeria, IBBN, noted he supports Obi because he can deliver and called on Nigerians not to sell their votes but ensure they use their PVCs to enthrone good leadership and governance.
