Senator Ita Enang, presenting his letter of condolence to a member of the Late Major General Edet Akpan’s family.

The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Ita Enang has condoled with the family of Rtd Major General Edet Akpan, who passed on recently.

In a condolence message, Enang described the Late Major General Edet Akpan as an “accomplished patriot”.

“It is with a heavy heart that I offer my condolences to the Akpan family, Akwa Ibom state and Nigeria on the passage to the eternity of an accomplished patriotic octogenarian and former Nigeria’s Director General of National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC), (Retd) Major General Edet Akpan”.

Enang, a former national lawmaker, said that his grief stemmed from the fact that late Major General Akpan departed when his sterling attributes of honesty, commitment, loyalty, humility, and diligence in his public and private engagement will be greatly needed.

He urged the family and general mourners to take consolation in the life and times of the departed, which according to him “Depicted the deceased as a compassionate patriarch, brave and loyal soldier, an astute administrator, an exemplary community leader, and a revered elder statesman”.

Enang prayed God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss and the soul of the departed statesman a quiet repose.

Late Major General Edet Akpan will be buried on Saturday, 25th July, 2020 in his native town of Nsit Atai.
