A former Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees in Nasarawa State, Ismaila Konga, has been kidnapped.

Our correspondent gathered that heavily armed men suspected to be kidnappers stormed Andaha community in the Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on Monday night and abducted Konga, to an unknown destination.

The former NULGE Chairman was kidnapped alongside two others during the incident in the area which also led to the death of a Hilux driver.

A family source told our correspondent that the kidnappers mounted road blocks on the Akwanga-Jos federal highway, between Ningo and Andaha communities, where they got the victims.

“They mounted road blocks and opened fire on travellers, then our brother ran into them and they whisked him away alongside Mallam Sule Coach, who is working with the Primary Health Care Department and one other person but unfortunately, they killed a Hilux driver who also ran into them.

“The kidnappers contacted us (family) around 4am today and gave our brother a phone to speak with us. He was trying to tell us that they are demanding for Two million naira, but we overheard his abductors at the background saying they will not collect the amount” he said.
