Nigeria Police Force, Anambra State command says Interpol has arrested a corps member, Emeh Nnamdi Daniel, who was declared wanted by the command in February 2023.

Daniel, 26 years old, was serving in the police command and was declared wanted on allegations of unlawful possession of firearms, money laundering, defamation of character, impersonation, hacking and stealing N47 million from the bank account of one Chibuike Martins Ekwueme.

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, Echeng Echeng, said at a press conference that the suspect fled the country to Benin republic where he was arrested by Interpol.

“The suspect is now in our custody”, Echeng said in a statement sent to The Dune by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu.

The statement indicates that Daniel transfered the money stolen from the victim into 14 of his bank accounts.

The Command said the Forward Operating Base, Aguata, arrested three suspects, who confessed to be members of the outlawed secessionist militia ESN/IPOB, for kidnaping. One of the victims was rescued.

“On 27/4/2023 by 7:50 pm, the forward operating base, Aguata while on stop and search duty at Afor Nnobi road intercepted two vehicles, one unmarked brown Lexus jeep and a black Prado Jeep with Reg Nos. GWA 696 CM, Abuja, the occupants of the vehicle who refused to stop when police flag them down, started shooting sporadically to escape police screening.

“The operatives engaged the armed men in a gun battle, rescued one of their victims and arrested three of the gang members suspected to be members of the ESN/IPOB group.

“Their names include Hyicent Ujwuika aged 45 years, Sunday Samuel Akpan aged 31 years and Chinonso Offor aka Wolf aged 24 years.”

The police said three AK47 rifles, two cell phones, two bulletproof vests, two walking talkies, one police uniform (camouflage), three AK47 magazines, 120 live ammunition, one Police belt, one hand glove, a pair of Police boots, two Police caps, one military T-shirt and one blue police uniform were recovered from the suspects.
