A socio-political group, Ibom Vintage Group, IVG, has declared support for the newly formed Maintain Peace Movement, MPM, which will midwive the succession plan of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
The group at its enlarged meeting on Friday in Uyo, said Governor Udom Emmanuel, having worked assiduously in the past six years plus to build bridges of peace, should be supported to transit to a new administration that will maintain the peace.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, the President of Ibom Vintage Group, Mr. Samuel Udoette, said Akwa Ibom people have had a new lease of life and peaceful environment to pursue the businesses and career under Governor Udom Emmanuel.
“You would recall the level of insecurity we experienced in this State during the immediate past administration; people used to live in fear because kidnappers, assassins and other were always on the prowl. Recall that at some point, the Nigerian Police Force in it’s annual report stated that Akwa Ibom State topped the chart of State on kidnapping and homicide.

“Before Governor Udom Emmanuel came in, it seemed like these crimes could not be tackled, but within two years everything changed. We live in peace in Akwa Ibom State and it is our thinking that every person who loves this State should be willing to support every effort at maintaining the peace we now enjoy.”
The group lauded Governor Udom Emmanuel for the milestones recorded in his industrialisation agenda and attributed same to the peace enjoyed in the State.
“The industries and new businesses springing up in the State are attributed to the peace. No investor would want to invest in an environment where there is insecurity, so, we only have Governor Udom Emmanuel to thank for the numerous startups in the manufacturing and agro value chain in the State. This is a product of peace.”
Mr. Udoette said Ibom Vintage Group believes in the leadership capacity of Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, the National Legal who is the Director General of the movement.
He said the group has ample confidence in Barr. Enoidem and was optimistic that under him MPM will mobilise all the strategic groups across the State that would make the governor’s succession a hitch-free.
Ibom Vintage Group pledged unalloyed loyalty to MPM and saying that it is ready to support the succession plan of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
