A leading aspirant for the Ikot Ekpene federal constituency seat, in Akwa Ibom State, Prince Mendy Archibong, has said that he will attract an industry to Obot Akara local government if elected to the House of Representatives in 2023.

Archibong who is an industrialist with interests in manufacturing as well as oil and gas said he will key into the State government’s industrialisation programme to attract an industry to Obot Akara.

He said he has identified an area of need and will deploy his contacts in the manufacturing sector to attract investors to the State.

Prince Archibong who stated this on Saturday 16th April when he chaired the 2022 Ikpe Mbak Eyop day celebration in Obot Akara, said his key agenda for contesting for the House of Representatives is to create wealth for the people.

He said if he is in government, he will leverage on his over 30 years of experience in the manufacturing sector to attract investments to the State.

While thanking stakeholders of Obot Akara local government area particularly the Senator representing Ikot Ekpene senatorial district, Senator Chris Ekpenyong, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Monday Ebong for working with Governor Udom Emmanuel to ensure the opening up of communities with road infrastructure, Archibong said Obot Akara needed a representative that will build on the foundation of effective representation laid by the Ekpenyong and Ebong.

“There are things you cannot do if you are not in government or close to the government; attracting huge investment is one of such things. Investors need guarantee that you can work with government to protect their investments. If I am elected to the House of Representatives, I will attract an industry to Obot Akara.”

“I am happy that our leaders in government, Senator Ekpenyong and Sir Monday Uko, have attracted roads projects to Obot Akara, this has given us an advantage preparatory for the next level of development.”

Archibong who is the founder of Prince Archibong Life Foundation, a humanitarian organisation that has undertaken outstanding interventions in the areas of rural water supply, women and youth empowerment, education and promotion of rural commerce, tasked the people of Obot Akara to work with leaders of the local government to ensure that the House of Representatives seat which is rightly the turn of Obot Akara should be occupied by Obot Akara indigene.

Archibong while lauding the people of Ikpe Mbak Eyop for coming together to think about the development of the community and pledged to make substantial contribution to the tall hall project conceived by the community youths.

He announced a donation for the foundation laying of the village council hall and purchase of uniform for women of the community.

The Ikpe Mbak Eyop day featured cultural displays include Abang, Ekpo, Ekong Nke, Agbon among others.
