DELTA STATE – The President General of Uwherun Kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Akpedafe Cassidy Arhemronarhe, says herdsmen have killed over 80 persons in the kingdom for the past 13 years.
Arhemronarhe stated this on Wednesday 19th February, while briefing newsmen on the recent attack on Uwherun people by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
He said the recent attack claimed nine lives.

“For over 13 years now they have been attacking us, and as l am speaking with you, over 80 persons have been killed by this marauding herdsmen and they have occupied our farmland.”
“And we the people of Uwheru kingdom, especially Agadama community are farmers, and fear of the herdsmen have made many of them not to go to their farms. Farm is the only source of money for our people because there is no employment in the country, and if our people cannot go to the farm and work for their daily bread what do you expect them to do?”
He therefore appealed to the federal government to deploy more soldiers to Uwheru kingdom.

Arhemronarhe commended Delta state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Chairman of Ughelli North local government area, Hon. Godwin Adode and the Area Commander, Ughelli over their responses and efforts in bringing the situation in the kingdom under control.
