A socio-cultural group in Akwa Ibom state, Afe Mkparawa Annang has honoured Prince Mendy Archibong, founder of Prince Archibong Life Foundation, as one of her patrons.

Prince Archibong was decorated as patron icon of Afe Mkparawa Annang at the year 2020 annual general meeting of the group held in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom state.

The President of Afe Mkparawa Annang, Adede Uduak Akpan said the group decided to honour Prince Archibong because of his strategic community services to the people of Annang.

He said members of the group are happy to have Prince Archibong who has worked sincerely and tirelessly to empower youths of Annang ethnic nationality in various endeavours.

The group noted and commended Prince Archibong’s charity interventions.

It would be recalled that Prince Archibong was the first private person to sponsor sensitization on COVID-19 to public schools in Akwa Ibom when the coronavirus pandemic was first reported in Akwa Ibom state in March.

The sensitization was duly followed by the distribution of COVID-19 protective kits and palliatives to community in Obot Akara.

Recently, Prince Mendy Archibong through the Prince Archibong Life Foundation repaired and restored portable water supply to five communities in Obot Akara local government area, among other interventions.

Responding to the honour done on him by Afe Mkparawa Annang, Prince Mendy Archibong, lauded the group for staying focused on her key mandates of mobilising and empowering Annang youths and preserving her heritage.

Speaking on the strides made by the Prince Archibong Life Foundation, Archibong said the organisation is poised to raise young entrepreneurs in the state, stressing that Nigeria can overcome the crisis of unemployment if there are concerted efforts to raise more entrepreneurs.

“We have set aside some amount of money to roll out a number of empowerment to youths and women in the next few months. I am a strong advocate of entrepreneurship. I will help Afe Mkparawa Annang raise entrepreneurs.”

He hinted that Prince Archibong Life Foundation is committed to alleviate poverty through promotion of entrepreneurship and rural commerce, and improve standard of living in rural communities through water, sanitation and hygiene interventions.

Archibong, who is a renowned industrialist thanked Afe Mkparawa Annang for inducting him as patron and promised to support the group to have a befitting meeting place.
