As part of the efforts to curtail disruption of power supply in Delta State, the Delta state task force on environment has served abatement notice to charcoal producers in Sapele, Sapele local government area.

Members of the taskforce who made this known during an inspection said those affected are charcoal producers at Otomewor junction along Sapele-Effurun Road.

Speaking on behalf of the Delta state environment task force chairman, Comrade Kingsley Iweka, the coordinator of the task force in Delta central and south said the decision to serve the charcoal producers abatement notice was because they ply their trade under the high power line.

“So we served them abatement notice in order to evacuate all the firewood and charcoals under the power line,” he said.

The taskforce arrested a woman at Effurun roundabout who refused to wear her face mask in the public.

The woman was handed to Ebrumede police division.

The taskforce also intercepted a 18-seater bus carrying 15 persons from Warri to Auchi in Edo state.
