Members of Auchi Polytechnic Alumni Association present at annual NEC meeting of the Polytechnic Alumni Association.

The President General of Auchi Polytechnic Alumni Association (APAA), Comrade Godspower Omadhebor says development of the Polytechnic is the core mandate of the association.

Comrade Omadhebor stated this during the annual NEC meeting of the association, held at the mini auditorium of Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro, Isoko North local government area.

He harped on the need for members of the association to contribute to the development of the institution, positing saying that government cannot develop all tertiary institutions under it’s care due to the vast population of Nigerian.

The alumni President commended members for attending the annual NEC conference, lauded the Rector of Auchi Polytechnic, Engr. Mustapha Zubair and Vice Chancellor of Delta State University of Science and Technology Ozoro, Prof Jacob Oboreh, for the role they played in ensuring that the meeting was held.

Comrade Omadhebor while delivering a lecture with theme; “Infrastructural Development: An obligation of ex-students to their alma mater”, said it is a task and obligation of alumni to build the institution.

“Today, we are very free to go back to Auchi Polytechnic because the alumni association has a secretariat in the where we all can go and have meetings, sleep over in our guest house and felicitate with the younger ones in the institution. This is how it ought to be.

“If you go to Auchi Polytechnic, the drawing studio of the Engineering department which was donated by the alumni gives us a sense of belonging. Also today, we the alumni are building a 1000 seating capacity classroom storey building for the School of Business.”

Also speaking, the Acting Rector of Auchi Polytechnic, Engr. Mustapha Zubair, who represented by Barr. Mahmud Garuba, Dean School of General Studies. He said that, “the commitment of members of the Alumni Association in the affairs of Auchi Polytechnic has made the relevance of this body more important than how it was in the past.

“There is the need for all of us to come together to see how we can contribute to the development of Auchi Polytechnic. I therefore called on each and everyone of us to ensure that we work together to develop Auchi Polytechnic”, Engr. Zubair said.
