The Federal University Lafia has admitted 3,708 students into eight faculties of the university for the 2019/ 2020 academic session.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Shehu Abdulrahman made this known on Tuesday while presenting his speech during the matriculation ceremony in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital.
He admonished the students to make use of the opportunity given to them by their parents/guardians and shun all forms of deviant behaviours that is capable of destroying their academic pursuits.
Prof Abdulrahman reiterated his administration’s commitment to make the University one of the best in Africa, noting that, he would ensure strict supervision on the various departments in the institution in order to achieve the standards that would prepare students for lucrative job markets in the future.

He assured of adequate security on the two campuses of the university and called on the general public to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.

“We have zero tolerance for any form of misconduct, and we do not hesitate to sanction unpleasant behaviours. I, further implore you to show respect to your colleagues and staff in the university to make your stay fruitful and productive.
Be reminded that the oath taken by you today is to be obedient to the Vice- Chancellor, all those in authority and to be of good conduct throughout your stay in the university. Please be warned that a breach of the oath will attract appropriate sanctions.

Be modest and decent in your dressing and approach to issues and adhere strictly to the rules and regulations enshrined in the students handbook.
I implore you parents/guardians to partner with us in this vision.The university will continue to focus on its core purpose which is to change Nigeria for good. This we hope to achieve by instilling the vision and mission of this great institution in our dear students,” he said.
