Rivers State Police command has paraded three suspects belonging to a child trafficking syndicate. The arrest of the suspects led to the recovery of a -2 month old baby.
Mrs Mercy Promise, Mrs Joy Ikechukwu and Miss Ngozi Ogbonna were paraded at State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for allegedly trafficking the two months baby.

The prime suspect Mrs Joy Ikechukwu disclosed to newsmen that she wanted to help a woman who lost her four children after a committee was set up to look into the woman’s plight.
Mrs Ikechukwu further explained that she got in contact with one ‘mama Ejima whom she paid the sum of N700,000 to purchase of a baby boy.

Another suspect, Mrs Mercy Promise, told newsmen that she was apprehended at a motor park when she wanted to put the biological mother of the child in a bus en route Akwa Ibom state from Port Harcourt after the mother of the child spoke in Akwa Ibom language, alerted people that her baby was collected from her.
Our correspondent reports that the arrest of Promise led to arrest of an auxiliary nurse identified as Ngozi Ogbonna who facilitated the buying of the baby at a medical laboratory.
