Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu said the state had recorded 80 new positive cases of Coronavirus within a week, and a total of 18 deaths so far, due to the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic.

Akeredolu made this known on Monday at government house, Akure, during a press briefing on the state’s response to coronavirus.

He explained that the state had a total of 154 confirmed cases from 1257 tests. Seventy-one cases are still active while 41 people have been discharged.

The Governor said all the directives on preventive measures remained in place, and appealed for more dedication to use of nose masks, social distancing, and frequent washing of hands, urged the people not to force him to lockdown the state due to the daily increase in the positive cases of the pandemic.

Akeredolu said the daily increase in pandemic is traceable to the non-chalant attitude of the residents.
