The state environmental task force chairman who was represented by Senior Special Assistant on Environment, Hon. Peter Abugewa and Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, Hon. Igho Akpojotor during a visit to Effurun market, said, the idea of the visit was to sensitize the people on the need to stop trading on the walkway.

He explained that, “Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was concerned about the health risk which the traders often expose themselves to as well as the risk of accident because the traders usually cluster on the road.”

“Vehicle owners passing through the axis also experience difficulty using the road as many traders do their business right in the middle of the road.

“The situation makes the area often congested and causes a lot of frustration to road users. And the situation cannot be allowed to continue in the interest of the traders and other road users.” He said.
