Jos – Three teenage girls were on Sunday ambushed along the road at Nchenyu village in Kwall district, Bassa local government area of Plateau State, while two of them were shot and killed at the spot, one escaped with gunshot wounds and currently receiving treatment in a hospital.

Similarly, two adults on the same day were ambushed at Wereng village, Riyom local government area of the State, one was also shot and killed while one is battling for his life in a hospital.

Although the State Police Command was yet to confirm the incidents at the time of this report as the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Gabriel Uba did not get back to out reporter as promised but the President, Irigwe Development Association, Robert Ashi and a local non-governmental organization, working with troubled community, Emancipation Centre for Crisis Victims in Nigeria, ECCVN confirmed the two separate incidents.

Ashi said, “Three young girls were ambushed some minutes past 7pm along Nchenyu village of Kwall district, two were killed instantly and one sustained gunshot injury and currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Jos. Names of those killed are Sibi Danladi (16-year old) and Charity Danladi (16-year old). Ayo has been hospitalized, she is yet to give us details of what happened but we called the attention of security, they came, took pictures at the scene of the incident.”

However, Solomon Mwantiri of the ECCVN said, “Information reliably sourced has it that two natives of Byei village in Riyom LGA were ambushed few minutes to 7:00pm of 28th March, 2021 by a group of armed militias not far from Military Unit stationed between Wereng-Camp and Byei. As a result, Mr. Stephen Joshua was hacked dead while Mr. Yohanna Dauda escaped narrowly.

“The unsuspecting natives were said to have been returning from Wereng Camp when the militias emerged from the nearby bush and attacked them.”
