The police in Nasarawa State have rescued, Mr. Salisu Maki, a journalist working with the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service, NBS, who was kidnapped by gunmen.
The Dune reported on Tuesday 11th January that a journalist was kidnapped from his residence along Akurba village in Lafia local government area of Nasarawa.
Mr. Maki was rescued within 24hours after his abductors whisked him away on Monday night.
The Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State had launched a compact rescue operations for the abducted journalist and he was rescued on Tuesday evening by the Police.
Confirming the rescue of the journalist, the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ramhan Nansel said, “The Victim, Mr. Salisu Maki was released yesterday due to sustained pressure from the search and rescue team and reunited with his family.”
Recalled, unknown gunmen on Monday night kidnapped Mr. Salisu Maki, a staff of Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS).
Mr. Maki was kidnapped at about 9:30 pm on Monday 10th January in his residence along Akurba village road in Lafia Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
The report said the gunmen stormed the residence of Mr. Maki, shooting sporadically into the air to scare people away while they kidnapped the victim.
The Police spokesperson said the arrest of four suspects has been made and the investigation is still ongoing.
