Pupils rescued from kidnappers in Doma, Nasarawa State.

Six pupils at the Local Government Education Authority Primary School, Alwaza, in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State who were kidnapped two weeks ago, have been rescued by officers of the Nigeria Police Force and hunters in the state.

Gunmen stormed the school premises on January 20, 2023, and abducted the pupils.

The Police say in an effort to rescue the pupils, its men combed the bushes and forests in the southern part of the state including Doma LGA, and were able to rescue two of the six kidnapped pupils on January 21, 2023 in Sabon Kwara village in Obi LGA of the state.

According to the police, the names of the two rescued female victims are Vision Judge and Peace Amos.

In a statement made available to our Correspondent in Lafia on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel, said the remaining four pupils have been rescued.

He said, “In continuation of the search to rescue the remaining four pupils that were earlier abducted on 20/1/2023 at LEA Primary school, Alwaza; on 3/2/2023 at about 7am, detachment of joint security operatives in collaboration with Hunters rescued the four pupils at Doka village, Doma LGA.

“The victims, Awazi Emmanuel, Success Ogah, Dominion Alhaji and Success Emmanuel have been taken to the hospital for medical examination and shall be reunited with their parents.”

Nansel expressed gratitude to members of the public for their support thus far and urged them to assist the police with relevant information that would help in arresting the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

Confirming the release of the kidnapped victims in Lafia, the Executive Chairman of Doma LGA, Ahmed Sarki-Usman described the act as inhuman considering the fact that the victims were under age.

According to him, the victims were rescued at Bogyo community in Doka electoral ward of Doma LGA, noting that no ransom was paid for the release of the primary school pupils.

Our correspondent reports that the four kidnapped victims were brought to the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia in a Hilux vehicle. They were accompanied by the Executive Chairman of Doma LGA, some staff of LGEA primary school, Alwaza, relatives of the victims as well as some security operatives on Friday.
