Plateau state government has announced the closure of all inter – state roads effective Thursday, 2nd April, from 6a.m.

Secretary to the State Government, Professor Danladi Atu, who announced the closure said it was part of measures taken by the government to guard against the spread of Coronavirus.

Atu while speaking with journalists in Jos noted, “based on assessment of the situation, the Governor and Chairman of the COVID-19 task force in Plateau State, Simon Lalong directed that from 6am Thursday 2nd April 2020, all entry and exit routes to the State be closed.

“No one will be allowed to come in or leave. Only those carrying out essential duties will be allowed after thorough clearance by security agencies and subject to preliminary examination by health officials.”

The state, he stressed, is considering sanctions for motorists who carry passengers beyond the provided benchmark and solicited the support of people of goodwill in donating to the special fund named, “Covid-19 Support Fund” which he disclosed has so far received 28.5 million naira donation from UBA.
