The Nasarawa State command of the Nigeria Police Force has reiterated its commitment to partner journalists in the state in crime prevention.
The Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Baba, made the commitment at the weekend in Lafia while hosting the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in the state.
CP Baba narrated that the contributions of journalists to the development of any society were enormous, adding that the media had greatly supported the command since he assumed office in the state.
He said, “Media practitioners in Nasarawa State have proven to be truly professionals in their reportage. They always contact us (police) to get clarification before publishing or airing.
“The coverage of police activities in the state has been unprecedented and we need to commend you and appeal that it should be sustained.

“Without the coverage of our activities, the public will not know the efforts we are making in fighting crime and the feat we have achieved.”
Earlier, the State’s NUJ Chairman, Salihu Mohammed-Alkali, who led other officials to the police command said the visit was to congratulate the Commissioner on his posting to the state.
The NUJ Chairman lauded the CP on the feats, the police under his leadership had achieved in the state, and urged him to do more to tackle the cases of attacks in Kokona and Karu Local Government Areas, as well as other parts of the state.
He assured the CP that Journalists in the state will continue to be responsible and professional in carrying out their duties of informing and educating the public.
