Primate Ademisokun Turton of Success Gate International Mission of Cherubim and Seraphim has cautioned Nigerians from bringing religion into politics.

During a chat with newsmen in Lagos, Primate Turton kicked against the clamour for a Christian President for Nigeria after the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The clergy posited that Nigerians have not achieved anything whatsoever with religion and ethnic sentiments rather the country is retrogressing because of disunity, nepotism and selfishness.

He said for Nigeria to move forward, the people of the country must eschew irrational sentiments and unite to elect credible, selfless and visionary person to the post of the President regardless of his religion, tribe and political affiliation.

In his words “Nigeria needs a democrat either Moslem or Christian.”

The Baba Alakoso of C& S in Akure axis said there must be a radical change in the nation’s electoral system stressing that the current system does not support entrenchment of credible people into political offices while it gives ample opportunity to money bags who knows nothing about governance to navigate his way into political power base.

The Primate also kicked against the idea of making politicians that have been rejected by the electorate at the polls as ministers saying such act is not helping the nation’s polity any any form.

Speaking about activities of bandits in Nigeria,Primate Turton frowned at the involvement of Islamic cleric, Hamad Abubakar in the negotiation and payment of ransom to bandits who are tormenting innocent citizens of Nigeria saying it is another clear display of the fact that things are not right in the country.

He charged the Islamic cleric, Gumi to go to the law Court to appeal the declaration of bandits as terrorists and stop condemning the laudable disposition of the judiciary to the dastard acts through verbal war.

Primate Turton urged the Islamic cleric to join hands with other meaningful Nigerians and condemn all acts of evil and be on the side of innocent citizens while calling on both Pastors and Alfas to speak against shortcomings of the government and jointly request for reinvigoration of security network with procurement of modern gadgets to curb terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and all other criminal acts in the country.
