Governor, Abdullahi Sule has urged the State Teacher Service Commission (TSC), to make competency it’s top priority in the ongoing recruitment exercise of teachers in the State, that the only roadmap to quality education is having qualified teachers.
The governor instruction was made available to newsmen in Lafia, the State capital in a statement signed by his chief press Secretary Mr Ibrahim Addra.
He gave the warning due to the reports reaching his office about some unprincipled persons who may want to make use of this teachers recruitment exercise to extort money from applicants promising them employment.
He warns that due process must be followed at every stage of the exercise and only the best should be considered.

The Governor said since the Baseline Survey has been conducted, it is in the best interest of his administration to recruit competent teachers in to secondary schools, so that the future of our children will be save.
Sule, said, “I can only accept the TSC ongoing recruitment if the exercise is rated fair and transparent”.
According to him “ the only way we can achieve qualitative education is to allow teacher recruitment process be free from political sentiments and unnecessary influences”.
He urged the management of the Teacher’s Service Commission never to compromise by heeding to pressures of what so ever kind to favour any candidate that is not qualified.
The Governor went further to say “there are prospective teachers who are competent and qualified across the State therefore the recruitment of 550 teachers must be evenly distributed across Local Governments”.
He strongly advised against giving a teaching job to unqualified persons, that such will put the future of our children and the generation yet unborn in jeopardy.
