Urhobo Progress Union Youth Wing has inaugurated a new executive to pilot the affairs of the union for the next three years.
The inauguration which took place on Wednesday July 22, 2020, saw the new executive selected from the 24 clans of Urhobo land take oath of office and allegiance.
Speaking during the inauguration, the Chairman Board of Trustee of the Union, Chief Jolly Ogbe urges the newly inaugurated executive led by Comrade Duru Nixon Ufuoma to unite all Urhobo youths across the kingdoms of Urhobo ethnic nationality together and move the union forward.

Those inaugurated alongside Comrade Duru Nixon Ufuoma were, Dennis Kabedje Etabuko- 1st Vice President, Edafe Owen Oghenero- 2nd Vice President, Peter Sane Darah- Secretary, Friday Durie- Assistant Secretary, Kingsley Okeh- Treasurer, Akpobuma Sunny- Financial Secretary, Olorih Edafe – Assistant Financial Secretary, Blessed Ughere- Publicity Secretary, Oghenede Stanley- Assistant Publicity Secretary, Kingsley Onakposigha- Organizing Secretary, Austin Akponana- Assistant Organizing Secretary, Sunny Utuedo- Auditor.
Others are Adamidenyo Itome- Legal adviser, Lewis Overah- Assistant legal adviser, Silver Vwede- Director security and intelligence, Emmanuel Agbabune- Director peace and reconciliation, Charles Buluku – Director sports, art and culture, Felix Edesi- Director Human resources and employment, Peter Akpevwe Dievuamrere- Welfare Officer, Barho Duke Ufuoma – Chief Whip, Prince Oghenevwogaga Isire, Glory Akpos- Ex-officio, Ovwigho Okpako- Ex-officio and Onokpite Michael- Ex-officio.
In his acceptance speech, the newly inaugurated President, Comrade Duru Nixon Ufuoma pledges to bring all Urhobo youths together for constant strategic engagements to promote total determination and pragmatic commitment rooted on accountability, discipline, sincerity of purpose and selflessness, for actualization of real sustainable development of Urhobo nation.
According to Comrade Ufuoma; “I want to passionately appeal and call on all Urhobo youths world-wide to take a stand now for the betterment of Urhobo nation. I want to state in clear terms that we, the National Executive Council of UPU youth wing, rejects slavery and cowardice in totality.

“We shall no longer allow what happened in the past to repeat itself but to ensure, the right values and influences exist amongst us. With the thinkable minds and workable hands that are made up of this new National Executive Council of UPU youth wing, we will recreate our circumstances and revolutionize Urhobo land with our forefathers original innovative ideas.”
“We shall cultivate deeper affinity with Government and companies in Urhobo land to draw social development to Urhobo communities. We shall also work in collaboration with other ethnic youth groups in synergy to actualize a formidable team for the general development of Delta state and Niger Delta in general”, he added.

On his part, the secretary general of the Union, Peter Sane Darah in an interview with newsmen said; “We will embark on very laudable and people oriented programmes that will be the envy of others in Nigeria. Such programmes shall be harnessing and promoting Urhobo languages and culture via Urhobo annual carnival, we will develop sports and organize football contest amongst the Urhobo twenty four kingdoms, agricultural and economic development/ empowerment and security surveillance network shall be our most concern.”
Earlier on the outgoing Urhobo Progress Union youth wing President, Comrade Nicholas Omoko, while handing over to the newly inaugurated President, urged the newly inaugurated President and his executives to create innovative ideas that will unite all Urhobo youths across the twenty four Urhobo clans together.
