Youths in Warri, Delta state have taken over some streets and major roads playing football in violation of the rule of social distancing, despite warnings by the state Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.
Okowa during a live broadcast on Tuesday evening ahead of the commencement of total lockdown across the Delta banned street football or any other sporting activities on the streets emergency period.

As at 7:00a.m, early morning of April 1, youths in different groups had taken over major streets like Lower Erejuwer, Upper Erejuwer, Ginuwa, Enemejuwa, Odibo, Ebor, Bazunu, Sam Warri, Hausa Questers and Garage area in Warri – Sapele road improvising goal posts with cement blocks and playing football.
A group of boys who had taken over Warri – Sapele road, Hausa Quarters, Garage axis, were seen hurriedly dispersing on sighting a van of soldiers headed for main market.
Few tricycles are also seen along Warri/Sapele road, Airport Road and other interior parts of Warri and Effurun.
Delta state government had earlier issued 14 days total lockdown across the state to prevent the dreaded Coronavirus from spreading into the state which is yet to record any case.

With the exemption of pharmaceutical shops, food vendors, fish farmers and those on essential services, among others, churches, schools, bars, clubs, cinemas, malls, others have closed shop in obedience to the lockdown.
However, some roads in the state, Ughelli and Agbarho Expressway were in total lockdown as there were no vehicle on the roads.
