The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, said that if elected, his administration will support Akwa Ibom state to build its proposed deep seaport.
Tinubu was in Akwa Ibom State on Monday 30th January in company of the President of the senate, Ahmed Lawan; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Ggbajiamila; Governors of Plateau and Cross River States, Simon Lalong and Ben Ayade, for his presidential campaign.
“We will build Ibom deep seaport”, he said.
The seaport was originally conceived as Ibaka deep seaport and industrial city by the Victor Attah administration, more than 16 years ago.
Tinubu said he will promote mechanised farming, stop estimated billing for electricity, end long queues at fuel stations and tackle joblessness and poverty.
“We will do mechanised farming. Estimated billing will stop. When you go to fuel station and can’t get gas, I guarantee you that will stop.”
Speaking, senate president, Ahmed Lawan, said Akwa Ibom State has demonstrated by their turnout for the campaign rally patriotism to the All Progressives Congress.
“This massive, mammoth crowd is a testimony of one thing, Akwa Ibom is the political epicenter of the South South. You have shown courage, you have shown patriotism for standing by the APC.”

Umana pledged said the state will vote for Tinubu and all other candidates of the APC, while requesting for his (Tinubu) assurance that the Ibom deep seaport and free trade zone will be operational when elected.
“The people of Akwa Ibom have spoken and have spoken well. They believe in you (Tinubu) because they know you have what it takes to consolidate on the achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari. We know the benefits we’ve got from President Buhari’s administration. We have got approval of Ibom deep seaport and the oil and gas free trade zone.
“We believe in your message of hope. We hope that the seaport will be operational and the free trade zone when you are elected.”
“We will vote for all our candidates”, Umana assured.
At the rally held at the Godswill Akpabio international stadium, Uyo, the party’s governorship flag was presented to Obong Akanimo Udofia by the National chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu represented by the deputy national chairman, assisted by the chairman of the presidential campaign council, Governor Simon Lalong.
