Despite the leadership crisis plaguing the Plateau State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the Party has said it is committed to having a peaceful and successful exercise in the forthcoming Plateau South senatorial bye-election slated for October this year.

The party calls on all stakeholders to embrace peace and unite for the progress of the party in the state and for the interest of the people as they all have a responsibility to build and not destroy the party.

Head, publicity caretaker committee, John Akans in a statement issued in Jos on Tuesday commend all the party aspirants for their resilience and collective commitment to ensuring that they work together in unity for the progress of the Party during and after the said bye-election.

He said, “The Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party is committed to a peaceful conduct of its primary election to elect a standard flag bearer for the southern senatorial by- election come October 2020. The State Caretaker Committee headed by Gwott Chocho has been enthusiastic towards uniting its leaders, critical stakeholders and members across the state which the Party today is gaining massive popularity by the day.

“We commend all our aspirants for their resilience and collective commitment to ensuring that they work together in unity for the progress of the party during and after the election. We equally appreciate all our party supporters across the State for their commitments gearing towards the Party’s victory. With the present leadership’s commitment and party’s goodwill across the state, the party is confident of winning all elections as we are aware of the great expectations of the people of Plateau state on us to move the state to a higher level of development and greatness.

“The leadership is assuring members of total victory for the party, starting from October’s senatorial by-election. We are appealing to all leaders, critical stakeholders and members to come together and work for the common good of our people irrespective of our individual interests, the party’s interest must be the priority of all and sundry which supersedes all interests because time has come when action of unity is required than division, remember, we shall all stand at the bar of history knowing fully well that the responsibility to build the party lies on our shoulders.”
