Following the discovery of the corpse of a young boy identified as Mustapha Abubakar at the Dong community of Jos North local government area of Plateau State, the State Police Command has arrested two suspects allegedly connected with the incident on Monday.

The boy said to be about 12 years old was grazing some cows in the area when he went missing on Sunday. The incident created tension in the area in the early hours of Monday as residents said the victim was killed by unidentified persons who attacked him while rearing his cows.

Management Committee Chairman of Jos North Local Government Area, Bala Usman through the Senior Information Officer in the Local Government, Philip Eplong, said that two suspects who were arrested in connection with the killing had been taken to the Rantiya police station in Jos South local government area for questioning.

Eplong said “Two suspects have been arrested in connection to the killing of Mustapha Abubakar, a 12 year old boy who was rearing cows at Dong village in Jos North Local Government Area. The two suspects are in the custody of the Rantiya Divisional Police station. Commander, Sector Three of the Operation Safe Haven, Colonel Tosin Ayoola while briefing the Management Committee Chairman of Jos North Local Government Shehu Bala Usman on the development said a combined security team is working hard to apprehend the remaining suspects for further interrogation.”

He also called on the people of the area to remain calm as security agencies and the Council are on top of the situation to bring the perpetrators to justice stressing that the Council’s authorities would not accept any further breach of the peace in the locality.
