The leader of Akwa Ibom state caucus in the national assembly, Senator Bassey Albert, has joined the Young Progressives Party, YPP, to pursue his governorship ambition.

Senator Albert and his wife, Pastor Imaobong Albert joined the party on Monday 18th July, at Ibiono Ibom Eastern ward 1, Ibiono Ibom local government area.

The lawmaker picked membership card number 3887 while his wife picked number 5006.

The federal lawmaker resigned membership of the Peoples Democratic Party on Friday 15th July, barely two months after he failed to secure the governorship ticket of the PDP.

He said a new Akwa Ibom births with his official joining of the YPP.

“A new Akwa Ibom birth. Akwa Ibom for you and Akwa Ibom for me. Akwa Ibom, where there will be justice for all.”

Senator Albert said he is offering himself to the party and the people of the state to use him as a vessel of change in 2023.

After filling their membership form before the ward chairman, membership cards of YPP were presented to Senator Albert and wife by the state chairman of the party, Mr Nyeneime Andy.

While welcoming OBA and wife into the party, Mr Andy said YPP has become the fastest growing party in the state with the Senator Albert’s entrance.

He said there will be a ballot revolution in Akwa Ibom state in 2023 and encouraged friends and supporters of Senator Albert to register with YPP in their respective wards.
