No fewer than 17 suspected political thugs who allegedly disrupted the recently conducted governorship and House of Assembly elections in Toto Local Government Area of the state, have been paraded by the Nasarawa State command of the Nigeria Police Force.
The State Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, made the disclosure while speaking with our correspondent in Lafia on Sunday.
He explained that the suspected thugs who allegedly invaded Toto LGA of the state, were arrested by some military operatives while on routine patrol, and handed over the suspects to the Police for further investigations.
Nansel said, “on 17/03/2023, the eve of election, military operatives patrolling along Umaisha, Toto LGA intercepted a Toyota pickup vehicle and a Toyota Sienna bus loaded with persons suspected to be political thugs.
“The suspects arrested are from the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa and Imo states respectively.
“A thorough search was conducted on them and two English pump action guns, nine locally fabricated guns were recovered from the suspects.

“Others items recovered from the suspects were twenty live cartridges, twenty four handsets of different brands, two unregistered vehicles, fifteen pairs of desert booths, a bag containing belts and bullet proof jackets.”
The Police Spokesperson while warning criminal elements to leave the state without further delay, said all the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia.
