Delta state CP, Hafiz Mohammed


Operation Safe Delta , a police outfit launched late December of 2019 by the Delta state Police command has arrested one Francis Nwabueze over an alleged attempt to buy a gun in Warri, Delta state.

The Dune learnt that the suspect was arrested at Marine quarters area on Saturday, February 1.

Nwabueze was said to have called a prominent citizen of the state (name withheld) on telephone and made enquiries on how to purchase a gun.

Our police source said, the citizen who suspected a foul play asked Nwabueze what he wanted the gun for.

The Commander of Operation Safe Delta, CSP Anietie Eyoh and his men tracked the suspect on phone before he was arrested on Saturday.

When contacted, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Hafiz Inuwa confirmed the report in a telephone chat with our correspondent in Delta.

CP Inuwa said, “Yes but he was arrested.”

He said, “what happened was that he called someone telling him that he want to buy a gun.”

“So, we intercepted him via their conversation. So, we went after him. You know going after them is a painstaking issue. It happened since last week.”

“So, we just started trailing him. At the end of it all, our men stumbled into his compound and arrested him.”

“He is in the hands of Operation Safe Delta. I think they are even taking him to Asaba now. We will interrogate him to know what he is up to.”
