Armed robbery victim receives back his money recovered by police in Nasarawa state.

Jos – The Plateau State Police Command has handed over the sum of N5, 927, 120 to the owner who was a victim of an armed robbery attack after recovering the money at the scene of the said attack which occurred along the Fuska Mata/Jengre road in the Bassa local government area of the State.
The owner of the money, John Okeke was on transit sometime in May, 2022 from Saminaka in Kaduna State to Jos, Plateau State when he and other travelers were attacked by the armed men but were saved by the timely response by the Jengre Divisional Police headquarters in Bassa.
Speaking while handing over the sum to the owner, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Bartholomew Onyeka, according to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo said the Command would continue to police with the fear of God.
His words, “In Iine with his mission of policing with the fear of God, the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, CP Bartholomew Onyeka has returned the sum of five million, nine hundred and twenty-seven thousand, one hundred and twenty naira cash to the family of one Mr. John Okeke of No 74B Rukuba road, Bassa LGA Plateau State, on the 4th of July 2022.

“The unfortunate incident happened on the 22nd day of May 2022, when a distress call was received by the Jengre Divisional Police headquarters, that a robbery was taking place along Fuska Mata-Jengre road, the DPO, SP Alobo John mobilized his patrol team, raced to the scene, and rescued the victims, cleared the road and restored normalcy to the area, while other officers rushed one of the victims, one Mrs. Laraba Ibrahim to the Plateau Specialist Hospital Jos, for medical attention, where the doctor confirmed her dead on arrival, as a result of a gunshot wound she sustained during the attack by the hoodlums.
“Due to the timely response by the DPO and his team, the robbers took to their heels, hence other victims who ran into nearby bushes were also rescued, that was when the money belonging to Mr. John Okeke, who was on transit from Saminaka, Kaduna State to Jos Plateau State was recovered. Given the above, the CP urged all residents of the State to continue to give timely information to the Police and other security agencies as this is one effective way to fight crime and criminality within the state…”
