The Nigeria Police in Niger State have arrested a woman, Gladys Nana Muazu for converting from Islam to Christianity.

Gladys and her children had relocated from Minna in Niger State to Keffi town in Nasarawa State due to threat to life by her husband and family members after their conversion.

Adah Muazu, daughter of Gladys told The Dune Newspaper that her father married the mother as a Christian and forcefully converted her to Islam.

“As I grew up, I got to know Jesus and converted to Christianity. My mother being a Christian before, joined me.

“My father was so bitter, he started beating me everytime. At one instance he almost killed me. My dad is diabolic”, she said.

Due to threat to their life, Adah and her mother, alongside other siblings decided to relocate to Keffi on the 19th of December 2019.

While in Keffi, the family worshiped with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Heart of God Parish.

Drama started when officials of the Nigeria Police from Niger State invaded her business premise on Tuesday, 14th of September, 2021 and accused her of being in possession of a stolen phone.

They requested that Gladys should come with them to the Area Command in Keffi for further questioning.

On arrival at the station, she was locked up and booked to be transferred to Minna in Niger State.

The Police from Niger State took Gladys away as earlier as 5am on Wednesday, 15th of September, 2021.

She is expected to be taken to G.R.A police station in Minna, Niger State.

On Thursday morning when The Dune sought to speak with DSP Wasiu Abiodun, Police Public Relations Officer of Niger State on the issue, he requested for more time.

The husband to Gladys could not be reached on phone as of the time of filling this report.
