The police in Aguata division, Anambra State command have foiled a kidnap attempt along Umuchiana community, Ekwulobia and rescued the victim.
Police Public Relations Officer in the State, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a press release on Wednesday that the police got the report of crime, chased the kidnappers, rescued the abductee and recovered his car at Ndike community in Orumba North local government area.
After rescuing the victim, the police continued to chase the kidnappers to Oruma South where they abandoned the vehicle and ran into the bush, the released disclosed.
“The Officers responded swiftly when they got the report at about 4:30 pm on 22/5/2024 of the abduction along Umuchiana village, Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA. During the hot chase by the Police team, the criminals shoved the victim out of the vehicle at Ndike village in Orumba North LGA and drove off for escape.
“The Officers sustained the trail on the abductors and the criminals abandoned the vehicle along Umunze road Orumba South LGA and ran into a nearby bush. Operations are still ongoing for the possible arrest of the hoodlums.”

The release stated that the rescued person has been reunited with his family while efforts are ongoing for possible arrest of the kidnappers.
It added that the feat was possible by the deployment of technology and rejigged personnel operational positioning on anti-crime approach of CP Nnaghe Obono Itam.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Itam has hailed the gallantry performance displayed by the Operatives, assured residents of Anambra that the Police and other security agencies will do everything within the law to ensure they deny criminals the opportunity to foment troubles and re-group anywhere in the State.
