Jos – The Plateau State Board of Internal Revenue Service, PSIR has denied some media report credited to one of its staff witnessed the alleged killing of a truck drive by a policeman.

The Service, through its Head, Corporate Branding and Communicatiins, Wulashik Dafa’an said the said man is not a staff of the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service and does not speak for or represent the Service in his individual or official capacity.

Dafa’an in a statement noted, “The attention of the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service has been drawn to online publications on titled ‘PLATEAU: POLICE OFFICER SHOTS(sic) TRUCK DRIVER DEAD AT CHECK POINT and ‘POLICE OFFICER GUN(sic) DOWN TRUCK DRIVER IN PLATEAU’ and posted on 27” March 2021.

“In the said publications, the authors cited one ‘Shehu Ibrahim’ as being “. a revenue Officer, with the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service (PSIRS), …” who reportedly went on to give an eye witness account of the incident that led to the shooting of a truck driver at a check point at Railway Crossing, Kuru along Mararaban Jama’a-Riyom road.

“We wish to state categorically that the said Shehu Ibrahim is not a staff of the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service and does not speak for or represent the Service in his individual or official capacity. That the Service as a Corporate Organization has a standard procedure of granting interviews, issuing press releases, holding press conferences among others to certified media houses that are on retainership with the Service and selected media organizations subject to the various media regulations.”

He added the clarification was necessary to “put the records straight and ensure that the public are properly informed.”
