The Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources Upstream and Co-chair, Senate Joint Committee on Petroleum Downstream, Petroleum Resources Upstream, Senator Bassey Albert, has assured the Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM) of a better deal by the time the long-awaited Petroleum Industry Bill is finally passed by the 8th National Assembly.
Senator Albert gave the assurance, Tuesday, January 26, 2021 when the HOSTCOM delegation led by its National President, High Chief Dr. Benjamin Style met the senator in his office shortly after the 2-day Public Hearing on the Bill organized by the Joint Committee of the Senate.

The Akwa Ibom National Assembly caucus chairman, in a brief meeting with the delegation, reassured them of the National Assembly willingness to do justice to their demands as contained in the signed memorandum to the Joint Committee.
Senator Albert disclosed that the Committee will soon carryout on an oversight visits to the host communities for an on the spot assessment and evaluation of the area.

HOSTCOM Chairman, Dr. Benjamin Style said the delegation decided to stop over in his office as a distinguished son of the Niger Delta and one of the arrowheads of the region in the Senate after public hearing to encourage and commend him and his colleagues for their great work and sacrifice to the country, and to urge them do justice to the plights and yearnings of host communities as soon as the country’s national assembly commences work on the PIB.
Those who accompanied the National President of HOSTCOM at the meeting were High Chief Dr. George Bucknor, the National Secretary, Technical Committee of the group; Hon. Elder Herbert C. Awortu, the Rivers State Chairman of HOSTCOM, among others.
