In the aftermath of the 2023 Presidential Election in Nigeria, the Nigeria people, who had hoped for each of their Presidential election candidate victory, found themselves in a position where they must reassess their political aspirations.
The emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), has surprised many, but his early actions since he assumed office as president of the federal Republic of Nigeria have shown promise and potential for progress and success. As advocates for a New Nigeria, it is crucial to consider supporting President Tinubu’s administration if it is already proving to be on the right path towards positive change by putting out developmental suggestions needed for Progress towards a New Nigeria we all crave for.
• A demonstrated capacity for governance
As a progressive Nigerian,am of the view that President Tinubu deserves support since he is demonstrating capacity in addressing governance and administrative issues. In the short time since assuming office, he has already enacted laws, and taken decisive actions that signify a commitment to moving the country forward. This proactive approach is commendable and instills hope in the hearts of Nigerians longing for effective leadership.
• A non-partisan outlook
President Tinubu has addressed all Governors in their first session that he will not engage in partisan politics and has called for collaboration to serve the people of Nigeria. This stance is a departure from the divisive tendencies that have plagued previous administrations. By promoting unity and encouraging politicians to work together for the greater good, Mr President has given the body language to transcend party lines and prioritize the welfare of the Nigerian people.
• Concern for the poor
President Tinubu’s statement, “LET THE POOR BREATH, DON’T SUFFOCATE THEM,” reflects concern for the marginalized and underprivileged people during a media interview reflecting concerns for the less fortunate which is a critical aspect of inclusive governance. His words may resonate with the desire for social justice and equitable distribution of resources, which are essential for a New Nigeria.
• Recognizing a working system
Supporting President Tinubu does not require suffering from a wicked man syndrome; rather, it entails acknowledging and embracing a system that is showing signs of progress. The early actions taken by the president indicate that he may be steering Nigeria in the right direction.
By rallying behind him, we can contribute to the stability and development of our country by playing advisory role in our own capacity to the Executive across board.
• Learning from past experiences
As a supporter and campaigner for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I understand that we have a good case in court with our Presidential Candidate HE Alhaji Atiku Abubakar waxing along side party member to the foot of Victory at the Tribunals but However, it is vital for the PDP to strategize and regroup at this crucial time of our political atmosphere. Democracy affirms the power of the people’s choice, even if the electoral process in our country is often marred by questions and concerns. To ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians, the PDP must work on strengthening its policies more, engaging with citizens, and presenting a more compelling vision for a better Nigeria for we still in line to victory in the court.
The emergence of President Bola Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election under review by the judiciary presents an opportunity for Nigerians to look inward to curtail every actions as our civic duties to demonstrate the need to all to be part of the New Nigeria.
President Tinubu’s promise to non-partisan politics, concern for the poor, and early actions may indicate a positive trajectory for Nigeria’s progress and success if his administration is sincere to their promises and actions. As advocates for a new Nigeria, it is crucial to set aside party affiliations and support a leader who shows promise in achieving the aspirations we all share for our great nation. By doing so, we can contribute to the building of a better future for all Nigerians.
