The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is expected in Akwa Ibom State on Friday 24th September, to inaugurate a 21-storey building called Dakaada towers built by the State.

Akwa Ibom State was created on September 23, 1987 by then military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida.
Prof. Osinbajo will also flag-off a luxury housing estate project in the state during the visit, Mr. Ini Ememobong, Commissioner for Information and Strategy said at a press briefing.

Mr. Ememobong said the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, had earlier in the week flag-off planting of 300,000 seedlings of coconut as part of the anniversary.
The Uyo-Ikot Ekpene road which was initiated by the administration of the former Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio and completed by the Udom Emmanuel administration will also be inaugurated.
Speaking on why the Four Points by Sheraton hotel which was built and inaugurated by the immediate past administration would not be opened for business as part the anniversary even though the government reneged on opening the hotel December last year as it promised, the Commissioner said government was not responsible for the delay.
“Four Points by Sheraton is a franchise. It is not the government that is delaying the opening of the hotel. It is not wholly the responsibility of government, it is that of Marriot group. The government had attended to every observation raised by the owners of the franchise”, Mr. Ememobong explained.
