Mr Okon Okon, Executive Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service, with his wife Barr Uwem Okon, during a thank you meeting for Southern Uruan Ward 1.
The Executive Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service, AKIRS, Mr Okon Okon, has hosted and thanked the people of Southern Uruan Ward 1 for voting massively for all candidates of the PDP in the just concluded elections.
Okon, at a thank you meeting held in his residence at Ekpene Ibia, Uruan local government area on Thursday 23rd March, praised the village heads, youth and women leaders, members of the PDP in the six communities that make up the ward for their large turnout and peaceful conduct during the elections, and for the massive votes given to the PDP.
He said with their votes, Southern Uruan ward 1 reaffirmed their preference for the PDP and their strong desire for the smooth continuation of development in their communities and sustenance of peace across the State.
“I called us here today inline with our tradition of meeting, and thanking God for every good success. We are also here to thank our people who worked hard for that success. I stand on behalf of the political class to say that our people did well during the elections. I thank the village heads who ensured that there was peace. I thank women who came out en masse to vote and the youths who ensured that South 1 was among the wards that had the highest number of votes in Uruan.”
“We were able to bring out almost all eligible voters in the ward to vote and they voted for PDP. PDP is entrenched in South 1 because the government of PDP and the administration of His Excellency, Mr Udom Emmanuel, is good to us. PDP is the most preferred party in Akwa Ibom State because of the development it has put on ground.”
Okon who had earlier congratulated the Governor-Elect, Mr Umo Eno with the Deputy Governor-Elect, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, the Senator-Elect for Uyo senatorial district, Mr Aniekan Bassey, the members-elect for Uyo federal constituency and Uruan State constituency, Mr Mark Esset and Mrs Itoro Etim, assured the people of Southern Uruan ward 1 of more development under the incoming administration.

The Senator-Elect for Uyo senatorial district, and Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mr Aniekan Bassey, also joined Okon to thank the ward, saying that Southern Uruan ward 1 lived up to expectations in the elections.
“I thank you for the support you gave to our Party, the PDP. I got the highest number of votes from South 1. Thank you for that support you gave to me and other candidates. You did so well. South 1 has lived up to the expectations,” Bassey noted.
Speaking, the Member-Elect for Uruan state constituency, Mrs Itoro Etim, thanked the PDP for giving her opportunity and the people for trusting her with their mandate, assuring them that she will not betray their trust.
In separate remarks, the Chairman of Uruan local government area, Mr Iniobong Ekpenyong and the Deputy Director General of Umo Eno/Akon Eyakenyi campaign organisation, Prince Godwin Ntukudeh, commended Okon Okon and stakeholders of the PDP in Southern Uruan ward 1 for working together to return all candidates of the Party, saying they were very impressed by the number of votes given to PDP by the ward.
The thank you meeting which featured praise and worship, exhortation, traditional performances, was attended by stakeholders of the PDP in Uruan including the Managing Director, Akwa Savings and Loans Limited, Mr Ime Okon, the International Coordinator of Ward Leaders Forum, Mr Michael Bush, and traditional rulers led by the Paramount Ruler of Uruan, Edidem Cosmos Atakpo, represented by the TRC Secretary, Obong Nsikak Effiong.
