He stated his commitment to impactful projects in environmental protection, disease prevention, maternal and child health, and basic education and literacy.

His words, “… I am reminded of the power of Rotary’s mission: To create positive change in our communities and the world… My vision for the new District is built on service excellence, fellowship and fun, innovation, and growth.

“For us to do more impactful, life-changing projects, we will appreciate your partnership towards planting and maintaining 10,000 trees seedlings; provision of reusable pads for 5,000 girls, a girl-child empowerment initiative; provision of hospital equipment to four Primary Healthcare Centres/renovation of some Primary Healthcare Centres in our Districts; provision of 2,700 desks for pupils in 16 States in Northern Nigeria.”

However, the Plateau State government has commended the humanitarian gestures of Rotary International in the State and assured of collaboration to ensure more citizens benefit from the gestures.

The State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang who was represented at the event by the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ephraim Usman, noted that the vision aligns with some of the government’s plans hence the need to offer support.

“As a government, we will give Rotary and the new District Governor the maximum support to succeed because some of their focal points are health, education, and others. These are also some of our areas of focus.

“Their focal points are interwoven with ours so we will work hand in hand to deliver the dividend to our people at the grassroots within the local government areas,” he stressed.

In his keynote address, Mr. Luka Panpe urged leaders to be accountable to the people. He noted that citizens protest against leaders when there are unfulfilled promises and leaders fail to make the sacrifices they expect from followers.

He called on leaders at all levels to be transparent, show empathy, and carry followers along through inclusive governance that involves women, youths, and people with disabilities.

Meanwhile, Nwanoshiri on Sunday accompanied the Chairperson, Women in Rotary, District 9127, Jane Egbo to donate 100 branded blankets to patients at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH.
