The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has intensified efforts to address quackery in the journalism profession.
The National President of NUJ, Comrade Chris Isiguzo, stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to Radio Nigeria Globe FM Bauchi, as part of his nationwide tour to councils and chapels.
Comrade Isiguzo said the Union at the National level had set up a committee, comprising of seasoned journalists, the police, Department of State Security Service (DSS), Civil Defence Corps, among other relevant agencies to check quackery.
He explained that the committee is saddled with responsibility of apprehending fake journalists and bring them to book.
Comrade Chris Isiguzo described Radio Nigeria as strategic partner to the media community in the country, stressing that it plays a vital role in mobilizing Nigerians towards achieving national integration.
He noted that the station had professionals that were committed in maintaining ethical standard of journalism.
The General Manager of Radio Nigeria Globe FM Bauchi, Malam Aminu Abdullahi Gombi, represented by Head of Marketing, Malam Zubairu Ahmad said the National President remarks on Radio Nigeria did not come as a surprise, because the motto of the station is “Uplifting The People and Uniting The Nation”.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Union, Radio Nigeria Globe FM Bauchi Chapel, Adamu Muhammad Gabi commended the National President’s foresight, policies and programmes that were geared towards lifting the profession to the next level.
During the visit the NUJ National President interacted with members of Globe FM Bauchi NUJ Chapel and commended them for their support and corporation to the Union.
