Jos – Ahead of its 61st AGM, the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA has organized a two-day medical outreach for staff and inmates of the Jos Custodial Centre.
The National President of the Association Professor Innocent Ujah who flagged off the event on Monday in Jos Custodial Centre, said, “medical care and attention are a necessity” hence the effort to “reach out to every Nigerian regardless of their social and economic status.”

The outreach involves professionals from different medical fields such as the ophthalmology, dentistry, general surgery, among others and staff as well as inmates of the correctional facility were attended to.
Highpoints of the event include medical diagnosis and surgeries.
Meanwhile, a new Public Relations Officer for the Nigerian Correctional Service in the State has been appointed and has assumed duty.
He is Longdiem Geofrey, an Assistant Superintendent of Corrections who until his new appointment was the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Command.
Longdiem Geofrey who holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Jos takes over from ASC Banda Martha who has been posted to the FCT Command.

He has attended several courses including the ASP Basic Course at the Correctional Training College Kiri-Kiri, Lagos State.
Longdiem Geofrey has also worked in various stations and correctional facilities in Pankshin, Jos Custodial Centre as well as the State Headquarters Office of the Command.
