A cross section of PLWDs in Nasarawa state at a-one day mentoring and life enhancement training organised by Nasarawa state.

The Nasarawa state government has concluded a-one day special mentoring and life enhancement training for the joint national association of people living with disabilities in the state.

Nasarawa state governor, Mr. Abdullahi Sule, reiterated his administration’s commitment for the continuous prioritisation of People Living with the Disability (PLWDs) in the state at the training held over the weekend in Lafia.

The Governor who was represented by his Special Assistant on Social Media and Disability, Mr Hamza Mamma said government was committed to the empowerment and training of people living with disability to improve the standard of their living.

He added that the state government under the leadership of of Governor Sule has given priority to the welfare and employment of the people living with disability in the state.

On her part, Hajiya Fatu Sabo, Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, has advised PLWDs to take advantage of government available technical schools to acquire skills to better their lives.

The commissioner who was represented by the Director of Special Education, Mr Madaki Ibrahim, advised them to shun begging and embrace training in various skills to be self – reliant.

“The state government does not want you people to take to the street to beg that is why it makes provision for various skills acquisition Centres, we have technical schools in Asakio, Mada Station among others”.

Mr Umar Dahiru, Chairman of Youths with Special need in Nasarawa State, said the mentoring and enhancement training for youths with special need in the state was aimed at empowering them to be self – reliant and to discourage them from begging.

Dahiru commended the Governor for prioritising the training and welfare of the PLWDs in the state, while expressing readiness of the Association to support him to succeed.
